Mobile Phones at Warmsworth Primary School

Warmsworth Primary School recognise that mobile phones (including smart phones) and other electronic devices such as tablet computers and smart watches are an important part of everyday life. However, such devices can disrupt learning and create other issues, such cyber bullying.

Please read the policy below for more information.

Warmsworth Primary School does not allow pupils to use or have access to personal mobile phones during the school day.

Pupils are not permitted to bring mobile phones or other electronic devices (such as tablets and smart watches) with them to school. This means that pupils phones should not be seen, heard or used during the school day.

However, we recognise that pupils and their families may rely on mobile phones as a safety measure where children travel to and from the school independently.

Where this is the case, in line with the school’s process for permitting children to travel to and from school independently, pupils may bring a mobile phone with them providing the following conditions are met:

• It is a day where the child is travelling independently.

• The mobile phone is switched off prior to entering the school premises and handed over to the school office on arrival to school.

• The mobile phone is stored in the school office until the child leaves at the end of the school day.

• The mobile phone can be collected by the child at the end of the school day and is not switched back on until they have left the school premises.

If these processes are not followed, children will not be allowed to bring their phones to school.
