Celebrating Our Eco Leadership Teams Acheivements
Our Eco Leadership Team has made incredible progress this year in promoting sustainability and environmental awareness across the school. One of their greatest successes has been the introduction of food waste bins on the playground, making composting more accessible and encouraging everyone to play an active role in reducing waste. The compostable material collected from these bins is added to our larger compost system, helping to create nutrient-rich soil while reinforcing sustainable habits throughout our school community.
We are also proud of the many creative initiatives led by our Eco-Committee. Their enthusiasm for sustainability has inspired others and driven meaningful change. By focusing on wildlife care within our school grounds, they have nurtured curiosity and responsibility for the environment. Students have learned to observe and interact with nature, deepening their connection to biodiversity and sustainability.
Through Muddy Mondays and Welly Wednesdays, the team has helped blend outdoor learning with core subjects, offering hands-on opportunities for students to explore nature and engage with their environment in fun, educational ways. Activities inspired by plants and animals—such as counting, colour sorting, and recognising shapes—encourage creativity, curiosity, and a deeper appreciation for the natural world.
The team also introduced QR codes in our woodland area, making it easy and engaging for pupils to learn about local wildlife, including rabbits, hedgehogs, birds, and insects. Their reminder signs for switching off lights and appliances promote responsible energy use, proving that small actions can lead to big impacts.
Finally, the creation of a new wildflower area has added beauty to our school grounds while providing a vital habitat for pollinators like bees and butterflies. This thriving space reflects the Eco Leadership Team’s commitment to fostering a greener, more sustainable future for everyone at our school.
