As sessions will take place in all weather conditions, it is essential your child has appropriate clothing.

Please ensure your child wears clothing that covers their arms and legs to avoid scratches and strings.

A waterproof coat and sturdy enclosed footwear, such as wellies, are vital.

Our woodland area has a lot of cover and can be quite cool under the canopy at all times of the year.

Please can your child wear or bring:

  • Jogging bottoms / trousers (not jeans)

  • Long sleeved top (long sleeved jumper in colder weather)

  • Wellington boots or old trainers with socks – these can be left at school in a labelled bag on their peg.

  • Waterproof jacket and ideally waterproof trousers for wet weather

  • Hat and gloves for cold weather

In our risk assessment it states that children's legs and arms must be covered to protect against stings and scratches. This is for a variety of reasons:

As plants and trees are important to biodiversity, we refrain from excessive cutting back of plants and trees and ask for the children's safety that arms and legs are always covered.

We sometimes encounter wild rabbits and hedgehogs living in our woods; this means ticks may be present, which can present a risk of Lymes disease. Ticks move by crawling across the ground or sitting on long grass or bushes waiting for a host to brush past them.

Midges and other insects poses a risk of bites in the warmer weather, therefore, clothing protection is very important.
