DT Primary Engineers Project

Our school was chosen to be part of the Rail Project sponsored by Siemens. Its aim is to encourage more children to take an interest in becoming engineers when they are older. All the children worked hard over a period of 8 weeks to learn how to fix materials together. We learnt about the different parts of a vehicle~ axles, wheels, chassis etc- and learnt how to  measure and fix materials to create a moving vehicle that goes down a ramp and stops using a simple braking system (string). Unfortunately we were only allowed to take 8 children to represent our school at the celebration events last month but they did us proud and talked to the judges about how they made their models. We even won a prize for the most inventive theme- a Komodo Dragon!! Our school were by far the youngest pupils that entered the competition. Well done all Year 1 you did us proud and your finished models are fantastic!,
