Anti-Bullying Week 2023

Anti-Bullying Week 2023: Make a noise about bullying

Anti-Bullying Week 2023 is coordinated in England and Wales by the Anti-Bullying Alliance. It will take place from 13 to 17 November 2023 and this year's theme is 'Reach Out'.

Anti-Bullying week will be launched at Warmsworth Primary School this year with Odd Socks Day on Monday 13th November, where adults and children are encouraged to wear odd socks to celebrate what makes us all unique.

Please encourage your child to attend school wearing any odd socks; they could try and choose some to reflect their personality traits: fluffy, dotty, long, short, stripped, some with holes, football, those with grips etc.

Bullying affects millions of lives and can leave us feeling hopeless, but it doesn’t have to be this way.

If we challenge it, we can change it, and it starts by reaching out. This is what we do at Warmsworth Primary School!

Our call to action:

Too often, there is a danger that we are silent when we see bullying take place, silent about the hurt bullying causes, and silent when we hear bullying dismissed as ‘just banter’ - it doesn't have to be this way and mustn't at Warmsworth Primary School.

Of course, we won’t like everyone and we don’t always agree, but we can choose respect and unity.

This Anti-Bullying Week we will be having discussions about what bullying means to us, how banter can turn into something more hurtful, and what we can do to stop bullying. Together, we can make a difference and take a stand against bullying.

From the playground to Parliament, and from our phones to our homes, let’s make a noise about bullying.

And, it doesn’t stop with young people. From teachers to parents and influencers to politicians, we all have a responsibility to help each other reach out. Together, let’s be the change we want to see; reflect on our own behaviour, set positive examples and create kinder communities.

It takes courage, but it can change lives.

Whilst we are proud of how we work together as a team at Warmsworth Primary School to minimise and address any bullying concerns, this Anti-Bullying Week, we intend to come together and reach out to continue our work to stop bullying.
