Year 5 - English - 19.5.23

Date: 19th May 2023 @ 10:00am

In English, we have been writing an information report about the Amazon rainforest. Here are some examples of our writing:

'The Amazon rainforest's plants are grass, trees, leaves and different plants. The trees give us oxygen air to breathe. The Amazon rainforest if the largest rainforest in the world'. - Adam

'Beneath the canopy is the final layer of the understory. The dark nature is great for animals to hide from their prey and get ready to pounce. The forest floor is barely lit and full of disgusting rotting matter' - Samuel

'Despite its importance, every minute an area of the Amazon equivalent to roughly 5 football pitches is cut down. Current figures suggest approximately 17% of the Amazon has been lost already.' - Lacey

'The Amazon rainforest of home to 10% of all known species on Earth, even though it just covers 6% of the Earth's surface. On average, there are many new plants and species being discovered every other day.' - Filip
