Year 3 outdoor learning - 25.2.22

Date: 25th Feb 2022 @ 4:40pm

Year 3 have spent the afternoon outdoors in the much awaited sunshine to complete their geography and science learning. Pupils have developed their geography skills by creating sketch maps of the school environment with clear labels and annotations. We have created a sketch map every half term in year 3, and it is fantastic to see the children's observational skills and accuracy developing over time. This has linked to our new science topic of plants, and the children have explored the school grounds to identify different plants, trees and flowers to add to their maps. We have discussed some of the children's observations such as: Why do the trees not have any leaves? Why can't we see the yellow petals of the daffodils yet? Why are some plants planted in certain areas of the school? These questions are an important start to our new science learning, and it is lovely to see that the children are so engaged in wanting to find out more!
