Y1 STEM vehicle testing
Date: 26th Jun 2025 @ 8:23pm
The year ones have been very busy working on their vehicles. They have collaborated with a partner to come up with a design. They have then made the chassis and attached axels and wheels. Part of the project was implementing a simple braking system so that the vehicle stops at a distance of 3.5m-5m when travelling down a ramp.
The designs have been very creative: party buses, fire engines, Ferraris, cats, giraffes, rubbish trucks and much more.
All the year ones have evaluated another pair's work in class. Today we evaluted the effectiveness of the axels and the brakes by conducting a test. Some of the vehicles went in a straight line and some turned a corner! Many stopped within the desired distance, some fell short, but none went over.
Overall the children have thoroughly enjoyed this project and there is sure to be some engineers of the future amongst them.
